Mondays and Sundays
The aim of this class is to help improve women’s self esteem and confidence. I am a survivor of a volatile past. My aim is to encourage women to see the strength they have within them through exercise.
Boxing was once thought of as a man’s sport but is now recognised as a great way to relieve stress and anxiety for women too, and a great way to get in shape.
The ability to defend oneself is empowering, not only teaching you discipline but realising your own strength and awareness is an empowering tool, not only for getting in shape but elsewhere in your life.
We have fun in class whilst teaching the discipline of the sport, using music and dance as a tool to learn the foot work. Keeping fit through boxing also encourages a sisterhood amongst the women, as the class relies on teamwork throughout the sessions.
My classes take place at 7.30pm-9pm at Moorlands Community Centre, SW9 8QT, and Sundays at Burgess Park, SE5 0AL 11am -12.30pm
Monday’s Class consists of stretching, warm ups, cardiovascular excercise, through teaching the principles of non-contact boxing from beginners level and yoga and deep breathing excercises.

The boxfit group of excellent women has definitely helped me to achieve my fitness, I have also benefit in the running club that Michelle has every other Sunday, it has helped me to gain confidence to participate in the Saturday Parkruns and encourage me to run a 10k at the beginning of September of this year for a charity event.

I have been working with Michelle for 2 years. At first I was just attending the classes and then I added a one-to one session in the gym where we also worked with weights. I have osteoarthritis and was overweight and I had an injury with my knee twice, that set me back but also made me more determined to do somethng to ensure future mobility. I started to use a knee support and continued to work with Michelle. And when necessary I took pain killers.
Michelle trains me at my ability, and pushes and motivates me when I’m sluggish or being negative about myself.
A few months back my circumstances changed and I was unable to get to Michelle’s classes and found some local classes until I was able to rejoin the class,
Sometimes I go to the running class which is very hard for me but I have improved.
I was 109 kilos when I decided to do something and now I’m 87 kilos and dropped from a size 22 and now in a 16.
I no longer use the knee support any more and don’t need painkillers at all.
I can recommend Michelle to anyone that wants to improve the way they look and feel about themselves. Her support goes further than the sessions and she shares diet and self-care ideas often and freely.
Michelle’s attitude is one of fun, positivity and support.

Monday boxing exercise classes at Moorland Community Centre, LADIES ONLY is a life changer for me and my mother. We have been attending the classes over a year now consistently and it has been great. Meeting lovely ladies and sharing experiences with each other.
My mother is a Moorland resident so she benefits from this free service. The session is affordable for non resident as I live outside the estate. But having a place on our doorstep like this is amazing.
We always look forward to the session every Monday. Our coach Michelle and her lovely assistant Kyla are inspiring ladies. Always motivating us and encouraging us to look after ourselves. The session is a stress relief for us.
Coach Michelle also runs a running session every fortnight Sunday. We started it over a year now from Brockwell park and moved to Burgess Park. The Monday classes motivated us to join the session. I never knew that jogging in fresh air is so important. We power walk, jog and sprint as well. We also do some calisthenic workouts and work as a group. Never thought that I would workout in the outdoor but Michelle makes it easy and anyone can do it. I am very proud of our journey.
